We need a plan to end Homelessness

Homelessness week 2022 will be taking place from Monday 1st to Sunday 7h August. The Australian Bureau of Statistics reports there are 20,000 people in Queensland, that’s 1 in every 200 Queenslanders, experiencing homelessness some of whom are experiencing homelessness for the first time. Because homelessness carriers a social stigma a lot of these instances are hidden, for example many homeless people are couch surfing, however there are various complex reason why person may be experiencing homelessness, such as mental health conditions, domestic and family violence, the breakdown of a relationship, debts, substance abuse and housing affordability just to name a few. Most recently COVID has had a huge influence on housing and homelessness, with many previous private rentals having been sold and new owners choosing to reside in their new property.
